Are you driving less? Cut back on other things you enjoy? Who do you blame?

Haven’t made too many changes yet. When the gas hits 4.00 will get more serious. Having my children bring water from home instead of buying it at school. $1.75 for water in Seminole County Public Schools. When Bush said he didn’t know gas was going to be 4.00 this summer, I can’t help but think he isn’t doing all he can. Doesn’t he have money invested in oil in Texas?

Have reduced driving by 45% in the last month. Went from 1100 mi per month to 600. I just eliminated all unnecessary driving and have combined multiple errands into one.

I just read the story about the cancer patient having a tough time finding rides to the doctor and for treatments. My heart goes out to them. While I can’t provide rides I can provide DJ services absolutely free to help raise money if anyone can use use this service. If some one can manage to get a hall and some refreshments we can give 100% of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society to help defray the cost of gas for these people needing transportation. I am truly sincere about my intentions to provide my services. Please write me at the above e-mail address and let’s see if we can help! Thanks!

As a server in the I-Drive area I have notice a drop in the locals that come to dine. I have had to cut my diving too only picking up my kids from school, going to work, and to the store once a week. Its very hard to afford to do anything when you rely on tips and no one leaves them.

Our company has made several changes due to the gas prices. We have gone from a 5 day work week to a 4 day work week. Saving fuel for the employees. We have over 150 stores in the state of Florida and the majority of them were getting a delivery twice a week. We have cut more then half of the stores down to once a week. Yeah the loads are bigger but in we’re saving fuel only because we only have to go there once a week instead of twice. For the latest change we turned down all of the governers on our Diesel Tractors so that the drivers can only go 65 mph on the highways intead of 70 to 75 mph. The savings in the amount of fuel that we use now is really adding up. For instance our truck that goes to Naples from Orlando usually uses 100 gallons round trip at the old speeds. Now that they only do 65 mph it only takes 70 gallons to fill the tanks. We’re doing our part.

We have had to redo all our Doctor visits, blood tests to one day a week. Some times I have to take off from work to drive my husban due to his illness. I have even made some of my meds. wait so we can have gas money just in case he has to go to hospital. Some of our med. bills have had to be put off due to everything going up due to the gas prices. Know matter what you do it still hits you hard when you have to do and have surtain things to live. I hope the oil companys are happy for the way they are hurting the people in the U.S.

Bought a motorcycle. Gets 50 mpg. Leave the SUV at home unless out as a family.

  9. Maddy Says:

Can someone please explain to me why where some gas stations put 10% ethanol mixed in with their gasoline – are we still paying the same jacked up prices as those without the ethanol? What are the REAL benefits of ethanol??

  10. Ed Says:

    Bought a chinese scooter. I get 75mpg.

Now I just have to put up with all the jerks driving 60mph in a 45mph zone.

I don’t worry about high gasoline prices because most of my driving is done using a GEM, a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) for which the electricity costs less than 2 cents per mile. A NEV, which has a top speed of 25 mph and a range of about 30 miles, cannot go everywhere (limited to streets with speed limits of 35 mph and lower), but it serves most of my transportation needs. For my Honda Accord, which I use when I must go somewhere my GEM cannot go, I spent ONLY $184 on gasoline for the entire year of 2007. If gasoline were to go to $10 per gallon my GEM would still get me to most of the places I need to go at just pennies per mile. Another benefit of driving my GEM is that it emits no tailpipe pollutants — in fact it doesn’t even have a tailpipe. When I return home from a trip I plug in to recharge the batteries for my next trip. Sometimes I might make a 20 mile trip early in the morning, recharge when I get home, and make another 20 mile trip later in the afternoon.

I am a small business owner my work is all mobile.(landscaping, estate management) My fuel bill took 22% of my budget.($30.000). I have reduced my staff and put all clients on routes. We are working only 4 day’s a week. (40 hrs). As people move to conserve. I have lost maybe 20% of business this year alone. The price of fuel will determine my future. I don’t have much room to move finacially! 22% fuel, 35% staff,25% maintance/equiment. You do the math. Don’t look good for me or my 10 employees. ( did have 15).

  13. Mario Says:

Gas stations in Central Florida are selling regular gas as premium. You go to the pump and select premium or 93 octane but you are actually pumping 87 or 91 if you are lucky. WILL SOME ONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. I drive a car that requires 93 octane. When my car started driving like crap and I could literally watch the gas needle move I took it to get serviced and had my injectors clean. After all this I was still expriencing the problem. I spoke to some people in and around my area that have similar octane requirements and they were going through the same things. I don’t have the resources to prove this as a fact but it cannot be a coincident that so many of us are experiencing this at the same time. So I hoping someone reads this and investigates. If they are going to sell lower grade or quality gas then they should charge LESS!!!!!!!!! and at least let us know.

They Eco System will solve your High Octane problem and increase your MPG. Its the Reid Vapor pressure thats your problem. Police cars in Texas are using the Eco Systems in thier crown vics which are known for performance problems. Do yourself a favor and research “Reid Vapor pressure” the EPA controls this. The Eco Sysyem is installed in your gas line and as gas goes through the device, it increases the REID vapor pressure. This gives you a more complete burn. which means increased power, less hesitation and less fuel consumed lower emmisions. The State of Texas spent over $80,000 testing this product… NASA uses it, school buses, emergency viechles etc. They all are saving money on thier Fuel Bills.

I would really like to see WFTV get the word out on the product!!!!

Goto http://www.etieco.com on home page on the bottom their are Texas News Stations Reports on the Eco Sysytems

    Thanks Norman

It just seems like families have to budget, cut back where needed, make adjustments and concessions, and all the while try to save for a rainy day. Politicians don’t seem to get any of that. They waste money. They pay more attention to their own special interests, and those of their lobbyist friends. When they run out of $, they ask the taxpayers to pay more, as in the proposed 5 cent gas tax hike in Orange County. Brilliant! I’m going to tell my boss tomorrow that I need a raise to pay for all the things my family can’t afford! Like I said, politicians are clueless………. I can’t wait to hear their argument for paying the same amount of taxes on homes that have devalued some 25%! I’m sure it will be equally as brilliant……………..
